Iceland Airwaves is a music festival held annually in the city center of Reykjavik.  The festival has been an annual event since 1999.  The festival was founded with the purpose of presenting Icelandic music to the world and that is still the focus along with showcasing international bands and musicians that participate in the festival.  

The city really comes alive during Airwaves since the festival takes place at a numerous locations in the city along with Off venues that take place at restaurants, hotels, bars and cafes.
