Center Hotels and all its entities confirm and commit to following all relevant international, national, and local legislation, including the areas of environment, health, safety, and labour.

Center Hotels and all entities in the chain of hotels recognize their environmental responsibility and operate according to Green Key International standards.

Emphasis is on three core beliefs, Care for the Planet, Care for the people, Care for responsible business practices.


Care for the planet 

At Center Hotels we care about the environment, and we advocate for environmentally sound and sustainable practices in our daily operation. Our various environmental and sustainability efforts are important to our business, and we strive to create social and environmental benefits for the surrounding community. We recognise our role in the global tourism industry and strive for long-term sustainable management of our activities, thus actively contributing to an overall sustainable development of the industry.

We strive to reduce the environmental impact of our activities by participating in environmental and conservation initiatives.

We continuously monitor our environmental performance and will set sound environmental objectives for continued improvements.

We aim to decrease our environmental footprint by saving on energy and water.

We will minimize the creation of waste and will actively reduce, reuse and recycle.

Using local, eco-labelled, fair-trade labelled, local and/or seasonal non-polluting products, where possible.

We educate our staff and providing regular training on environmental and sustainability issues

We encourage our guests to participate in our environmental efforts by raising awareness on environmental and sustainability matters


Care for the people

Center Hotels will encourage our employees to volunteer. They can volunteer through programs organised internally or externally. Our company may sponsor volunteering events from other organisations.

We can affect the world around us not just by how we act and react, but also by the demands that we put on our suppliers and business partners. We choose them based on:

Biodiversity

Center Hotels recognizes the importance of protecting nature and supporting biodiversity. Even as an urban hotel group, we aim to make small positive contributions to nature through our operations and guest experience.


Our commitments:

- Use plants or herbs in outdoor areas, terraces or balconies where possible, prioritizing species that support pollinators.

- Avoid the use of pesticides or harmful chemicals in any hotel green areas.

- Work with suppliers that demonstrate responsible sourcing of food and beverages, including sustainable seafood and local produce where possible.

- Raise awareness among staff and guests about Icelandic nature and the importance of protecting it.

- Explore opportunities to support local environmental or nature initiatives.


Carbon Footprint

Center Hotels is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and lowering our carbon footprint over time.


Our commitments:

- Monitor energy and water consumption across our hotels and continue to look for opportunities to reduce usage.

- Continue efforts to reduce waste and increase recycling in all hotels.

- Prioritize local suppliers when possible and or responsible to the business to reduce transportation impacts.

- Encourage guests to participate in sustainability efforts such as towel reuse and reducing food waste.

- Raise awareness among staff about small everyday actions that help reduce energy use and waste.


Risk and crisis management 

Center Hotels recognizes the importance of being prepared for unexpected events and operational disruptions. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment for our guests and staff and ensuring that our hotels are able to respond effectively to emergencies.

Our commitments

- Maintain clear emergency and crisis response procedures for all hotels.

- Provide staff with regular training and guidance on safety, emergency preparedness, and crisis response.

- Regularly review and update risk assessments related to safety, health, and environmental risks.

- Communicate clearly with guests, staff, and partners in the event of disruptions or emergencies.

- Work with relevant authorities and partners to ensure coordinated and responsible responses when needed.


Continuous improvement

Center Hotels understands that sustainability is a continuous journey. We will review our actions regularly and gradually introduce additional initiatives related to biodiversity and carbon footprint reduction.
