Lonely Planet, a leading global travel guide, published their fifth annual collection of the world’s best destinations in the last quarter of 2009. The guidebook; “Best in Travel 2010” presented Iceland at the top of their list for 2010 for the best value places to visit.
Lonely Planet also announced Iceland as a top summer travel destination for August in their January Issue of Lonely Planet’s monthly publication. Iceland was part of the “Perfect Trips for 2010“.
“You’ve always wanted to explore this magical, mysterious land, explore volcanoes and ice caps and bathing in hot springs? Then 2010 is your year” states Lonely Planet.
Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik was particularly recommended to travellers, described as the most perfect location to enjoy the great Icelandic summer weather on those “endless” summer evenings.
Lonely Planet is the largest travel guide and digital media publisher in the world. It has published over 500 titles in eight different languages with annual sales of six million guidebooks as well as TV programs, a magazine, mobile phone applications and websites.[1]
